Scripps student judged a top young artist at Arts, Beats & Eats

Morgan Herron, 11, was among hundreds of kids who submitted student art projects at the Oakland County Summer Arts Project, part of the 2010 Ford Arts, Beats & Eats event held recently in Royal Oak.
But Morgan, a 6th grader at Scripps Middle School, came away as a top young artist. Again.
‘Over 430 student art projects were submitted,? said Morgan’s mom, Andrea Herron, noting student artists, ages 6-13, were allowed to submit up to two projects each, with 16 prizes awarded–four in each of four age groups.
While prizes were not ranked, Morgan’s ‘Art Rocks? collection — painted rocks inspired by famous artists? masterpieces — was one of four winners in her age group.
‘This is’her second year to be awarded a top prize,? Andrea said. ‘At the 2009 Arts, Beats & Eats-Pontiac, she received a first place prize, a $50 savings bond, for her artwork.?
This year, Morgan took home a Citizens Bank Let It Grow Gift Account.
