Sizzling: Field day just too hot to play for fun

Goodrich-Just a little too hot.
That’s the message on Friday after temperatures soared to the mid-90s as Oaktree Elementary held its annual field day for third through fifth grade students. The events, which put students in competition with fellow classmates as well as classroom-versus-classroom, were cut down this year to accommodate for the weather.
The 300-yard race, which usually takes place at the beginning of the day, was taken out of the schedule this year.
‘It’s too hot to be out here,? said Ric Adams, Oaktree gym teacher.
‘We’re drinking lots of water, taking it easy and finding shade when we can.?
