Skateboarding competition set for village skate park

Ortonville- Skateboarders, your time has come.
The village council unanimously approved at their Aug. 25 meeting a skateboard competition to be held at the Village Skate Park.
The competition will be from 1 p.m.-6 p.m., Sept. 13 at the park located at the corner of Ball and Cedar streets near the baseball diamonds. The event is being organized by Skate Park Monitor Bob Roerink.
‘We want to show the public what the park really is,? said Roerink. ‘The kids aren’t racing up and down the street anymore. The cussing has stopped. The park is nice.?
The contest is open to all kids 17 and under and is free-of-charge. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories? 11 and under; 12-15-years-old and 16- and 17-year-olds. A panel of five skateboarders not entering the contest will be the judges.
