Ski teams plan to ‘come out strong,? coach says

The Holly/Oxford ski teams are planning to ‘come out strong? on both the boys and girls side this season.
‘We have several returning athletes that are strong skiers, and we have lots of young talent as well,? explained assistant coach Dalton Sink. ‘This mix should be good for now and the future.?
Fourteen skiers returned to the slopes this year.
Of those 14, six are seniors, which include Dillon Sink, Zac Felix, Lars Joergens-Koka and Tyler Kwapis on the boys and ‘Montana Taube-Whit, and Rachel James for the girls.
‘These athletes are the leaders and the glue to this team,? Dalton said.
New to the team this year are eight freshmen.
‘Some have been a part of the skiing world and know the ropes,? he said. ‘The other new racers have great potential.?
The overall strength of the team is the depth.
‘The league is looking healthy,? added Dalton. ‘We were down in numbers slightly last year, but this ye,ar a lot of new faces are being seen at Mt. Holly.?
As far as competitions, Dalton said the team always enjoys training weekends up north and they ‘delight in tough competition at the regional meet.?
‘We would like to finish strong at this year’s regionals and most importantly (come) away (with) a league title,? he said.
