The Oxford Soccer Club (OSC) rose to the occasion in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria’s devastation to portions of the United States.
The club spearheaded a fundraiser to help raise money for victims of the hurricanes.
On Oct. 3-4, the OSC 06 and 04 Girls teams each dedicated one hour of their practice to the cause by juggling a soccer ball.
Donations were made in fixed amounts or five cents per juggle.
Between the two sessions, the two groups raised nearly $1,800 to benefit victims of recent hurricanes, according to Coach Robert Herrgott.
“I am extremely impressed (by) how the girls took this idea and ran with it. Thirty-two girls raised close to $1,800 through a one-hour juggling practice. Some girls even donated their own funds. I am proud to be their coach. They did a great job,” said Herrgott.
The funds were donated to the American Red Cross last weekend.
