Staff, community forums for supt. search Feb. 12

Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) will be hosting staff and community forums on Feb. 12, according to MLI President Dr. Mike Wilmot.
‘It will start at 11:30 a.m. and go on into the evening,? Wilmot told this reporter. ‘It will be several sessions on that day.?
The forums will be held in the school board’s meeting room inside the district’s central office building (10 N. Washington St.)
However, a complete list of those times has not been established yet, once they are they will be posted on the district’s website www.oxfordschools.org, according to Superintendent Administrative Assistant Pat Bono.
While they are ‘just really getting started with the Oxford search,? Wilmot said as of late last week they had only received seven applications, since posting the position on Jan. 14
‘I expect the majority of the applications to come in close to the posting deadline,? he said. ‘The current number of applications is about normal.?
While he has looked over the applications he’s received’thus far, he won’t ‘release any closed details until the end of the (Feb. 13) posting period.?
Deputy Superintendent Tim Throne, who is considered the ‘strong internal candidate? for the position, told this reporter as of Monday, he had not sent his application in yet for the Oxford position.
‘I have not hit the final submit button yet for Oxford’s posting. I’ve got the majority of my information in there, just a couple more pieces of information remaining,? Throne said. ‘I’ll probably get it complete over the weekend and then I won’t have to worry about it.?
Throne, who was looking at possibly applying for both Romeo and Traverse City superintendent positions back in December, did note that he sent his application in for the Romeo position, which had a submittal deadline of Feb. 6,
‘I have not done anything with Traverse City at this point,? Throne said. Traverse City’s application deadline is Feb. 20.
Oxford finalists to interview will be selected by MLI Feb. 16. Candidate interviews will be conducted Feb. 18-19; second round of interviews will be Feb. 23 and Feb. 26. The selection of the new superintendent will be Feb. 27 with a start date no later than Sept. 1.
