The Oxford Wildcats girls’ swim and dive team was able to improve to 3-0 on the season with a 97-89 victory over the Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Oxford took the top spot in 11 of the 12 events, but the Black Hawks were able to keep it competitive because of their depth.
As has been the case all season long, some of the Wildcats’ top swimmers continued to make program history.
Junior team captain Jenna Fistler moved into second-place on the Oxford all-time list in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:56.07.
Junior diver Amelia Knotts, highlighted by coach Jackie Rank as a standout performer this year, moved into fifth-place on the all-time charts with a score of 201.35.
Already qualified for the Oakland County Championships and still having a year of eligibility remaining, Knotts has time to continue to establish herself as one of the best divers in the 14-year history of the girls’ swim and dive program.
“Incredibly pleased by the effort displayed by all of the girls,” Rank said.
“Swimmers and divers alike had their heads in the game for the entire meet and showed quite a bit of improvement. The OAA White League Meet will be very exciting with the likes of Bloomfield Hills, Lake Orion and us.”
Next up for the Wildcats is a date with the Rochester Falcons on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Two days later, Oxford hosts the Oxford Diving Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 beginning at noon.
