Swimmers best Ferndale

The Wildcat swimmers boosted their record to 6-0 after defeating Ferndale 145-35 at the Jan. 25 meet.
‘Ferndale had a couple of strong swims and is sitting 1-4 on their season,? said Oxford Head Coach Jackie Rank.
‘The two teams will see each other again on Wednesday, Feb. 24 for the blue division league meet at Oxford High School.?
In the 200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Sereno, Scepka, Warren, and? Powers took first’with a time of 1:49.78. Oxford’s B Relay of Saxon, Grove, Tasch, and Butler finished in second’place.
200 Freestyle: Oxford senior Armando Vega came in first’with a time of 1:58.59. Lucas Sereno and Trenton Sabo took second’and fourth’place respectively.
200 Individual Medley: Oxford sophomore Garrett Warren finished 1st’with a season best time of 2:09.72, which moves him up to third’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Jonah Grove and Bradlee Weltyk came in third’and fourth’place respectively.
‘In the 50 Freestyle: Oxford senior Sean Terry took first’with a time of 22.67. Travis Butler and Brandon Powers rounded out the top three. Travis? time puts him 10th’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Jake Tasch swam in exhibition and his time was fast enough to put him ninth’on the All-Time Top Ten List.
Diving: Oxford sophomore Mitchell Mulligan placed first’with a score of 162.25. Josh Burr finished in second’place for Oxford.
100 Butterfly: Oxford sophomore Garrett Warren finished first’with a season-best time of 56.80, which moves him up to fourth’on the All-Time Top Ten List and automatically qualifies him for the Oakland County Championships. Sean Terry and Trenton Sabo rounded out the top three spots.
100 Freestyle: Armando Vega claimed his second first’place finish of the night for Oxford with a time of 52.24, which puts him eighth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Michael Scepka took second’with a time that puts him 10th’on the All-Time Top Ten List and Raynor Rusinowski came in fourth’for Oxford.
500 Freestyle: Oxford junior Travis Butler came in first’with a personal-best time of 5:43.33, which puts him ninth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Zack Acton and Spencer Adamczyk finished second’and fourth’respectively.
200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Powers, Terry, Vega and Butler took first’with a time of 1:35.82. Oxford’s B Relay of Weltyk, Stresky, Scepka and Sabo came in second.
100 Backstroke: Oxford junior Lucas Sereno touched first’with a season-best time of 1:03.46, which puts him ninth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Tanner Saxon and Brandon Powers rounded out the top three spots.
100 Breaststroke: Oxford Junior Jonah Grove came in first’with a personal-best time of 1:11.05. He is fifth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Bradlee Weltyk and Tyler Stresky tied for second’place. In the exhibition lane was another great swim by Jake Tasch. Jake finished with a time of 1:13.11, which puts him eighth’on the All-Time Top Ten List.
400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Terry, Sabo, Warren and Vega finished 1st’with a time of 3:36.12. Oxford’s B Relay of Scepka, Acton, Sereno and Tasch took 2nd’place for Oxford. ?
Oxford will take the pool next at the Oakland County Championships on Feb. 5 (diving) and Feb. 6?(swimming) at Lake Orion High School.
‘Sean Terry and Garrett Warren have automatically qualified for the OCC,? Rank said. ‘I will also be entering an A-Relay (team) in each relay event, which includes swimmers Armando Vega, Travis Butler, Jake Tasch, Brandon Powers, Michael Scepka and diver Mitchell Mulligan.?
