Oxford’s swimmers and divers took a tough loss against OAA red division swimmers from Birmingham Groves Sept. 27.
Oxford, an OAA white team, won some competitions and had some higher finishes, but were unable to capture a win in its home pool.
In the relay races, Oxford claimed one win in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.31. Oxford’s A Relay team, made up of sophomore Jenna Fistler, freshman Cali Schnur, sophomore Grace Charnstrom and junior Ashlee Weltyk, swam a season-best time for the win.
Oxford also claimed second in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:47.80. The finish came from the A Relay team of Grace Charnstrom, Fistler, Weltyk and junior Kahleigh Rogers. The 400 Freestyle Relay race brought Oxford third place with a time of 4:13.04. The A Relay team was made of Schnur, sophomore Nellie Charnstrom, sophomore Adeline Bishop and senior Cailin Griffith.
In the individual events, Oxford picked up a number of first and second place finishes.
Weltyk grabbed first place in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.25, which was a season record for Oxford.Weltyk also took second in the 200 Individual Medley with a season-best time of 2:16.11.
Fistler claimed two wins in individual events in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle with times of 26.02 and 56.43, respectively. Fistler’s 100 Freestyle time was a season-best for the swimmer. Schnur also grabbed two wins during the meet in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Schnur swam times of 1:01.03 and 1:05.00, the former of which was a season-best for her.
In the grueling 500 Freestyle, Griffith was able to claim third for the Wildcats with a time of 6:02.49.
For the diving event, senior standout Keira Veltigian picked up second place with a score of 217.20.
This meet put Oxford 2-3. After swimming against Bloomfield Hills at home of Oct. 2, the Wildcats will be in the pool again on Oct. 5 and 6 at the Oakland County Championships.
