The Lady Wildcat swimmers had a close loss of 90-92 in a meet against Notre Dame Prep Sept. 22.
The results are as follows:
In the 200 Medley Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of sophomore Claire Alexander, Victoria Mc Clenaghan, freshman Ashlee Weltyk and junior captain Rachel Commons took second with a time of 2:06.33.
In the 200 Freestyle, Weltyk took first with a time of 2:09.42. Alexander came in close behind her in second place.
In the 200 Individual Medley, Mc Clenaghan finished third with a time of 2:41.10.
In the 50 Freestyle, Commons took fourth with a time of 28.36.
In the diving portion, Keira Veltigian came in first place, with a personal best score of 213.60. Senior Jenna Zeiter finished in second and freshman Emma Moore came in third.
In the100 Butterfly, Danielle Kemp took third with a time of 1:14.61.
In the 100 freestyle, Christina Boydston came in first with a time of 1:02.04. Commons came in close behind her in second place.
In the 500 freestyle, Cailin Griffith took second with a time of 6:28.27. Caitlyn Geda finished third.
In the 200 freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Weltyk, Mc Clenaghan, Boydston, and Commons came in second with a time of 1:53.70. Oxford’s B Relay of Kaleigh Rogers, Paisley Arent, Rachael Baker, and Sabrina Kurk took third place.
In the 100 Backstroke, Claire Alexander finished second with a time of 1:08.65.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Weltyk took second with a time of 1:15.86. McClenaghan finished in third place.
In the 400 freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Kemp, Boydston, Kurk, and Alexander came in first with a time of 4:13.97. Oxford’s B Relay of Hannah Schonfeld, Veltigian, Paige Hodder, and Griffith finished in second place.
“The lessons that we will take from this meet are to not back down, keep working hard and pushing forward, taking care of ourselves, and continuing team unity by being excited for those girls that did see (their individual) time drop,” said Head Coach Jackie Rank.
Veltigian, Zeiter, and Moore will be entered in the diving portion of the Oakland County Championships on September 30th. The meet begins at 6 p.m. at the Lake Orion High natatorium.
The team will compete in the swimming portion of the Oakland County Championships, Oct. 1 at the Lake Orion High natatorium at 6 p.m.
