Oxford swimmers took on Berkley in the Wildcat pool on Dec. 20 and left with a 104-80 win and a 3-0 undefeated record. According to Head Coach Jackie Rank, her young team is progressing regularly and swam some of its fastest times in the last meet of 2018.
The boys started the meet strong with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:45.92. The swimmers were sophomore Zach Beatty, sophomore Ben Datsko, freshman Carson Wolf and junior Carter Pollard.
Later in the 400 Freestyle Relay, Wolf, Pollard, Beatty and sophomore Cole Bukoski picked up a win with a 3:28.56 finishing time. Wolf again led the 400 Freestyle squad, swimming Oxford’s 10th fastest time in the race.
Wolf continued his momentum individually in the 500 Freestyle, swimming Oxford’s fourth fastest time ever and picking up first in 4:57.19. In the 200 Individual Medley, he won again and claimed a school record with a time of 2:03.91.
In the 50 Freestyle, Pollard picked up first with a time of 23.98. Later, Beatty claimed the top spot in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 51.92.
Rounding off the swimming winners, Datsko grabbed first in the 100 Breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:05.64.
As for diving, sophomore Michael Funke led the way with a score of 151.50 and the winning spot.
The boys will take on Clarkston away on Jan. 10. Rank said they plan on using their three-week break making their times even faster.
