Twenty-three teams have been formed to walk in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 15 at the Oxford High School track.
From schools and local businesses to cancer survivors and families, the teams represent many different walks of life, but their goal is the same ? help fight cancer by collecting donations, raising awareness and walking for 24 consecutive hours.
Each team conducts its own fund-raising activities between now and the relay. For instance, Oxford Bank has a number of fund-raisers planned including:
n April 4 to May 6 ? Returnable pop can drive.
n April 8 and April 29 ? Bake sales featuring delicious goodies made by bank employees.
n April 14 and 15 ? Popcorn sales in the lobby.
n April 22 ? A hotdog cookout to kick off the grilling season. For $2 each, bank customers can purchase a hot dog, bag of chips and bottle of water.
n May 6 and 7 ? Celebrate Mother’s Day by purchasing a carnation complete with card and ribbon in the bank lobby.
