The Wildcats varsity tennis team took a fourth-place showing with 39 points at the Oxford Athletics Association (OAA) Blue Conference Tournament on Oct. 5.

Oxford finished within 2 points of the second place team trophy, as three schools were separated by a point near the top.

Oxford had second place medalists at #1 Singles – Lauren Opalewski, #4 Singles – Trevor Wallace, and #3 Doubles – Dane VonAllmen & Silas VonAllmen. Oxford also had third place medalists at #2 Doubles – Jonathon Robb & Brenden Hamari.

On Oct. 4, the team finished its regular season by defeating Hazel Park with a score of 8-0, solidifying an overall 4-4 record for the Cats. Oxford swept all four singles positions and all four doubles positions.

“It’s been a great effort shown by the team this season in only year 2 of the boys tennis program at Oxford,” said Head Coach Ryan Ruzziconi.

The team will compete in the MHSAA Regional, which will be held on Thursday, Oct 12.
