Girls tennis conquered two more teams this week, taking a big win over Ferndale and a hard-fought victory over Southfield Arts and Technology.
Oxford celebrated a shutout 8-0 win over Ferndale on April 25. Oxford dominated singles, with senior Ashlyn Foreman, senior Rowan Edmonds and sophomore Olivia Thaler all winning their matches in two sets. Junior Alura Reid fought hard through No. 1 Singles, winning through a third set tie-breaker.
Ferndale had no prayer throughout the doubles matches. Oxford won all four matches in two sets with wide scoring margins.
The singles athletes had a tough time against Southfield on April 23, but the doubles teams came through to seal the deal for a 5-3 win. Oxford swept the doubles matches, with only No. 3 Doubles going to a third set.
Thaler kept Oxford in the game early on with her win in No. 4 Singles. She won her match in two sets of 6-0 and 6-2, respectively.
