Lake Orion’s boys track team demolished the competition in the state regional meet last week at Bloomfield Hills High School, winning by 50 points over second place Waterford Mott.
The Dragons got some extra help from their field events, as Jacob Hatcher won the long jump with his best leap of the year and Jacob Maurer won the pole vault.
The Dragons were their usual tough selves in the track events, including three decisive victories in the relays.
Lake Orion won the state title in 2012 and finished third last year.
Here are the results for the Dragons at the regionals:
????3200m Relay Team – Michael Bonnici, Matt Arenz, David Diaz, and Kirk Hansen.
????800m Relay Team – Sheldon Drake, Jacob Hatcher, Matt Krause, and Zach Arnold.
???? 1600m Relay Team – Sheldon Drake, David Diaz, Zach Arnold, and Kirk Hansen.
Also qualifying for the State Meet were Andrew Lorant, (second In the 1600m Run), Zach Arnold, (second in the 400m Dash), Jacob Hatcher, (second in the 100m Dash), Sheldon Drake, (second in the 200m Dash), Kirk Hansen and David Diaz, (second and third in the 800m Run).
