Thelma Fremstad, 83, of Oxford, passed away on July 11, 2023, at her home. She was born on September 30, 1939, in Detroit to Harry and Phyllis (McKenzie) Fischer.
She graduated from East Detroit High in 1957 and went on to cosmetology school. She worked a variety of jobs over the years, but her main job was Mom and Grandma. She was a member of Journey (formerly Holy Cross) Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ardell Fremstad. Beloved mother of daughters; Jody (Michael) Major of Canadian Lakes, Colleen (Martin) Pender of Lapeer, and Lisa Flynn of Nogales, Ariz., and stepchildren Delrae Fremstad of Oakland Twp., Randy (Joy McClellan) Fremstad of Lake Orion, John Fremstad of Oxford, and Cindy (Rusty) Hoffman of Oxford. Loving grandmother of Michael (Arielle) Major Jr., Matthew Major, Jessica Major, Jonathan Pender, Timothy Pender, Ian (Erin) Rogan, Evan (Brittany) Rogan, Nicole Healy, Clifford (Samantha) Healy, Chase Fremstad, and Olivia Hoffman, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Sister of Ritchie (Shelley), Joe (Margaret), Arthur (Angie), and Karen Fischer. She was preceded in death by baby daughter, Janet, her parents, and siblings Fred, Lenny, Steve, Harry Jr., and Phyllis Capps.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, annual trips to Maui, boating and fishing up north, sunsets, owls, and crossword puzzles. Arrangements entrusted to Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors, Oxford. A funeral service was held on July 18 with interment following at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Karmanos Cancer Institut
