A threat to ‘blow Oxford up? written on a girls restroom stall wall at Oxford High School is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
According to Principal Mike Schweig, the ‘threatening message? was discovered on Tuesday, May 11.
‘The police were contacted and did an initial investigation,? Schweig wrote in an e-mail. ‘As a result, (they) determined that there was no immediate danger to any of our students or staff.?
‘Somebody had written some stuff that sounds like they didn’t feel was credible as any kind of a serious threat,? said Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Perry, commander of the Oxford Township substation. ‘We’re working with (the school) right now and we don’t have any suspects at this time.?
Neither Schweig nor Perry would divulge the contents of the threatening message.
‘This is all the information we are able to release at this time as we are continuing to investigate this matter,? Schweig wrote.
‘It’s an investigation,? Perry said. ‘I can’t let you know exactly what it said.?
However, according to reliable sources within the high school, the message said, ‘On 5/15/10 I am going to blow Oxford up.?
An adjacent wall contained another message laced with profanity and proclaiming a hatred of Oxford.
Perry noted, ‘There was nothing that (stated) they were going to blow the school up or anything like that.?
