Local retailers will rock the runway for a good cause on Wednesday, October 5, during the Oxford Women’s Club annual fashion show at the Boulder Pointe Golf and Banquet Center (1 Champions Circle).

This year’s fashions will be presented by Kim Rose of Grand Blanc, Chico’s of the Village of Rochester, and Glorious Collections of Oxford.

The doors for the event open at 5 p.m., when guests will be invited to shop from local artists and retailers. According to Oxford Women’s Club Treasurer Nancy Wray, vendors will sell chocolates, clothing, jewelry and more.

“It’s all high quality and affordable stuff. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s always fun to look,” said Wray.

A light dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and will be followed by the fashion show.

According to Wray, the fashion show and the organization’s annual wine tasting event, which takes place in January, both serve as the organization’s two biggest fundraising events throughout the year.

“These two events really take us through the year to hopefully build enough money to be able to give out as much (scholarship money) to students as we have in the past. (The fashion show) is one of the biggest fundraisers we have and we’re hoping to pack the place,” said Wray.

The Oxford Women’s Club was established over 80 years ago and carries the main objective of providing scholarships to Oxford area students.

Over the last five years, Oxford Women’s Club has donated an average of $10,000 annually to graduating seniors. The organization has also contributed to FISH, Girls’ State and Youth Assistance.
