Oxford High School’s robotis team, TORC 2137, competed against nearly 70 teams from across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico at the Indiana Robotics Invitational July 14-15.
Although the TORC team fought hard, its efforts were cut short during the qualification rounds during the off-season event.
“Our robot ran well and our team fought hard. It is very competitive, with teams traveling great distances to participate. We were among several Michigan teams at the event,” said TORC Mentor Eric Schimmel.
“We were able to talk with many high-performing teams and learned a lot about their robots and how they run their robotic programs in support of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education worldwide.”
According to Schimmel, the team is appreciative to have the support of local businesses including Pink & Charlie’s, DK Donuts and Burgers, Mazza Auto Parts, Steve’s Oxford Automotive, M.C. ‘Wiches, J & T Electrical Supply Co., Healthy Smile Center, and Creative Embroidery & Screen Printing.
