The Lady Cats battled hard this past week on the hardwood.
Oxford kicked the week of with a tough loss to Clarkston 49-36.
Kayla Luchenbac led for Clarkston with 17 points and Maddie Beck had 11 points. Abby Butkiewicz led Oxford with 15 points and Maddie Morris had 13 points.
Later in the week Oxford lost to Southfield Lathrup 61-20. Oxford was led by Madelyn Morris with nine points and Abby Butkiewicz with seven points.
Against both of those teams, the girls played extremely hard. It was a very difficult competition and I couldn’t ask for any more than what we ask from our girls,? said Head Coach Steve Emert.
They have given everything they have everyday all year with no complaints.?
Emert noted that they knew it would be difficult this year in the OAA Red, but he said that where his players belong where they ‘always play with integrity and pride.?
‘Clarkston and Lathrup are ranked in the top ten in the state rankings. ‘They are very talented, quick and we’ll coached teams,? he added. ‘Many in this area do not understand that caliber of basketball that we go against.?
The girls will travel to Rochester tomorrow (Feb. 18) night to take on Rochester Adams High School.
