Township man attacks father with sword

A 62-year-old Orion Township man was hospitalized last week after he was allegedly attacked by his son, who family members said was weilding a large sword.
Keith Douglas Taylor, 19, was arraigned April 21 on charges of assault with intent to murder, as well as a secondary charge of assault with intent to maim.
He’s held in Oakland County Jail on $500,000 bond.
According to reports issued by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, officers arrived at the family’s home in the 2300 block of Cedar Key just after 11 p.m. April 19 for a domestic assault complaint and found three individuals on the front porch, including two males who were both injured and bleeding from wounds they said were inflicted by a three-foot-long sword type weapon.’Also present was Donna Taylor, 56, who was not injured.
Police entered the home and located Keith Taylor in his second-floor bedroom. He was detained without incident and transported to the Orion Township substation for interview with a detective and lodged at Oakland County Jail.
Eric Taylor, the alleged attacker’s father, was transported to William Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries to both hands, back, and forehead, He will require surgery, police said.
A second victim, the alleged attacker’s brother, Kurt Taylor, was treated at the hospital for a cut onbhis hand and released.
The court entered a plea of not guilty on keith Taylor’s behalf, and will schedule an exam within 14 days.
