Oxford’s varsity baseball team picked up its 20th win of the season May 26, beating Everest Academy 7-0.
The offense was lead by junior Gage Warzecha going 3 for 3, three RBI’s, two runs scored and a home run shy of the cycle. Six other Wildcats added one hit a piece.
Jack Kitchner picked up the win, going five innings, surrendering only two hits while striking out six batters.
On May 24, the Cats took two wins against Avondale during a doubleheader.
In game one, the Wildcats pulled out a 6-5 win, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Cameron Goike set the tone in the seventh with a lead off solo home run. It was his first of the season.
Jacob Watt picked up the win going 1-2 innings. Connor Romine collected his fourth save of the season. Mario Scribner went 4-1, striking out eight hitters while earning the no decision.
In game 2, the Cats pulled out a 10-5 win, despite the game being shortened due to rain.
Jack Smalley and Brandon Barrows each had two hits. Warzecha and Shae Walters each crushed a double.
Ben Nuss, Zak Schwerin, and Evan Brunning each added one hit.
The team is 20-15 overall on the season.
Next up, on May 31, the team goes up against Berkley at 4:30 p.m. at Berkley High (2325 Catalpa Dr, Berkley).
