After a season full of setting records and winning medals, senior standout diver Keira Veltigian will represent the Wildcats at states. She cemented her spot by winning third at Thursday’s regionals meet.
Veltigian took on the tough competition and dove a score of 378.35. Having excelled in her sport for years, this will be the senior’s third trip to the state competition, which will be held this year at Eastern Michigan University on Nov. 16. At the meet, she will join her teammates and swimmers sophomore Grace Charnstrom, sophomore Jenna Fistler, freshman Cali Schnur and junior Ashlee Weltyk.
This year, Veltigian is aiming to place in the top 16.
“Keira has worked very hard to prepare for next week’s state meet,” diving coach John Pearson said. “I’m looking forward to Keira’s performance on Friday and I’m excited to see what the future holds for her.”
After her last diving meet as a Wildcat, Veltigian is planning to earn a business degree, though she’s still deciding on a college.
