OXFORD – During its meeting on Nov. 14, the Oxford Village Council approved the engineering and design contract for the village’s Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) water main project on Park Street.
The village has been working with ROWE, an engineering and survey services company, to bring forward plans for the project, which will include full lead service replacement, storm sewer improvements and new asphalt pavement.
The project scope will stretch from Mechanic Street to Pontiac Street and include the intersection at Hovey Street.
“It should be a fairly straightforward project,” said village Manager Joe Madore. “There are a couple spots where we will have to do some sidewalk repairs but we’re going to try to minimize that.”
ROWE anticipates the project costing about $821,000.
The council approved hiring ROWE for a fee of $65,500 to conduct its standard services like preparing topographic surveys, identifying areas of work, coordinating in retaining services, preparing applications and contract documents and assisting in the bidding process.
Construction on the project is expected to take place in the summer 2024, during which time the road will be closed to through traffic and only accessible to those who live on the street.
