The Oxford Middle School seventh-grade Blue Volleyball Team finished their season undefeated with a perfect 14-0 record.

Out of the 42 total games played, the team lost only six games throughout the season (middle school volleyball matches are determined by the best two out of three games), and all but two of them were by only two points.

According to Coach Gayle Tucker, the team brought their best game to every single match. “Volleyball is definitely a team sport. It takes all facets of the game to win. Players must serve, pass, set, and attack consistently to win. It takes everyone who is on the court, during each and every point doing their job. But it was the amazing teamwork that was exceptional every time these girls stepped out on the floor. The lineup didn’t matter, because I changed it frequently. They adapted and got the job done. That was the reason for their successful season. I am so very proud of them,” Tucker said.

Tucker said she would like to thank all the parents for their support. She said all of this would not have been possible without their dedication to their daughters, the team and all the traveling. She added she’s disappointed her mom, Helen Smith, who loved the Wildcats and often came to watch their games, was not here to witness this.
