Volunteer for Beets, Beats, & Eats: ‘It’s a party every Friday night?

Ortonville- Debbie Baker is looking ahead to a summer in the park.
The village resident and market manager is planning another season of Beets, Beats, & Eats in Crossman Park and is hoping local residents will become involved in the summer event. A BB&E committee meeting is planned for 7 p.m., Feb. 16, at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St.
‘If you have an opinion, want to be involved, or are a member of an organization that wants to be involved, please come to the meeting,? said Baker. ‘We go over what’s going on, what’s happening, and make all sorts of decisions.?
The seventh annual Beets, Beats, & Eats will take place Friday nights from June 15 through Aug. 31. The event features a variety of local vendors, acoustic musicians, and a dinner each night provided by local restaurants, churches, or community organizations. Dinner cost ranges from $6 to $8 per person on average. Each night has a different theme, including photo and art contests, pet night, garden exchange, kids night, quilt/tractor show, and more.
This year for the first time, will be a talent show night and a ‘Healing Arts? night, complete with psychic readings, oracle cards, and crystals.
‘It’s a party every Friday night in the summer, something to do, with an affordable dinner, vendors to shop with everything homemade, and a place to come hang out with your friends,? said Baker, who has already booked some returning vendors. ‘There are tons of ways to help. This is the best way to get involved in your community and meet the people you live near. It’s a great way to make the place you live a better place.?
