Walk nets $5K for hunger

Ortonville- Sue Howard isn’t a meteorologist, but she predicted it wouldn’t rain last Sunday and she was right.
The weather was ideal for the 28th annual CROP Walk on Sept. 21 and the good weather streak continued for the hunger relief fundraiser.
‘We expected our number of walkers to be down because of the economy and there were, but it was a great walk,? said Howard, organizer of the event.
‘Thank you to everybody for their support and especially the merchants for the tote bags and all the people who walked and raised money.?
Howard said about $5,000 was raised, 25 percent of which will be given to the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund food pantry and the rest of which will go to Church World Service for worldwide hunger relief.
