This week the Leader’s starting a new feature called ‘What I love about Oxford.?
Each week when our fearless staff is out and about in the community, we’re going to stop one lucky person at random, ask them what they love most about this town and take a photo of them.
When Oxford resident Sheri Beall (pictured above with her son Chase, 2) stopped by our office to get a subscription to the paper, we asked her what she loves about her town and she replied, ‘I like the sense of community here.?
‘There’s a small town feel, but we’re not far from the amenities of the big city. I love it out here,? she said. ‘And the schools. I have two kids in school here and it’s going very well.?
Coincidentally, her daughter, Jillian Beall, a second-grader at Daniel Axford Elementary, is featured in a story on page 4. Check it out.
Put on your thinking caps, Oxford because the next person we stop could be you. ? CJC
What I love about Oxford
Kris Drautz and son, Luke, drifted on the swings at Seymour Lake Park on Monday morning.
Luke got off of his swing and went off to his next activity, but what to do next. At Kid’s Kingdom there were so many options – go down the slide, climb the monkey bars or walk on the bridge.
While he decided, Kris had the chance to reflect on she loves about her community.
‘It’s not very busy,? she replied after some thought. ‘There isn’t a lot of traffic like there are in cities.?
A few more bonuses for Kris and Luke are the summers are nice and they have a place to play on a sunny day.

Growing up in Oxford has made Kayle Parker appreciate the little things, like enjoying time to read a book and spending time with friends.
‘I like the small-town feel,? said the Oxford High School 2008 graduate.
‘I like the downtown atmosphere during the holidays.?
She also likes the close proximity of the businesses in downtown.
‘Starbucks, Golden Dragon and Oxford Theater are within the same area – making a good Friday night with friends,? Parker explained.
