The Oxford Wildcat baseball team went up against Rochester Adams on May 7 in a double-header, ultimately sweeping both games.
In Game 1, Oxford picks up the series opener against Adams 4-2. Oxford found themselves down 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th when junior Evan Brunning singled scoring 2 runs. Oxford was able to plate another run in the 5th to take the lead to 4-2. Brunning and Drew Carpenter each collected 2 hits in the game. Carpenter also scored 2 runs.
Evan Brunning picked up the win going 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs and striking out 6. Sophomore Jesse Burch got the save striking out 1.
In Game 2, Oxford kept things rolling winning game 2 7-4. Oxford came out hot scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning and 1 in the 2nd. Connor Romine was the winning pitcher for The Cats going 4 innings allowing 6 hits, 3 runs while striking out 5. Michael Scepka got and 8 out save. Scepka went 2 and 2 thirds innings striking out 1 while only allowing 1 run.
Oxford collected 5 hits in the game. Ben Nuss and Joey Miller each had 2 hits. The Cats stole 8 bases on the day with Nuss leading the way with 3 steals.
Oxford is back in action Wednesday at home vs Adams with a 4:30 p.m. start.
