The Oxford Lady Wildcat swimmers took first at a home meet with 90 points against Notre Dame Prep September 9.
Oxford was tied at 82 going into the last meet of the night, the 400 free relay. The Cats took first in the event by almost 10 seconds to secure the win that night.
Oxford is now 2-0.
The results that night were as follows:
In the 200 Medley Relay, Oxford’s A relay of junior Claire Alexander, Kaleigh Rogers, Rachel Commons, and Weltyk took second with a time of 2:02.85.
In the 200 Freestyle, sophomore Ashlee Weltyk claimed first with a time of 2:03.37. Alexander and Cailin Griffith took third and fifth respectively.
In the 200 Individual Medley, freshman Jenna Fistler finished second with a time of 2:23.19, which puts her third on the All-Time Top Ten List. Freshman Grace Charnstrom claimed fifth place.
In the 50 Freestyle, Senior Captain Victoria McClenaghan came in second with a time of 27.17, which puts her eighth on the All-Time Top Ten List. Senior Captain Rachel Commons touched fourth.
In the diving portion of the evening, junior Keira Veltigian took first with a score of 228.90. Sage Brocco came in second.
In the100 Butterfly, Jenna Fistler claimed third with a time of 1:04.85, which moves her up to fifth on the All-Time Top Ten List. Commons and Nellie Charnstrom took fourth and fifth respectively.
In the 100 Freestyle, Alexander finished third with a time of 1:01.10. Rogers took fourth place.
In the 500 Freestyle, Senior Captain Emily Vican came in second with a time of 6:11.50. Cailin Griffith and Sabrina Kurk finished in third and fourth place respectively.
In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Weltyk, McClenaghan, Commons, and Fistler took second with a time of 1:48.05. Oxford’s B Relay of Bailey, Rogers, Vican, and Pill finished in third.
100 Backstroke, freshman Grace Charnstrom claimed first with a time of 1:09.69, which puts her sixth on the All-Time Top Ten List. Freshman Peyton Bailey took second place.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Ashlee Weltyk finished second with a time of 1:12.87, which breaks Haley Kornburger’s School Record from 2011, and became the fastest breaststroker that Oxford has had to date. Rogers and McClenaghan claimed third and fourth place respectively.
In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Oxford’s A Relay of Alexander, Kurk, Charnstrom, and Fistler came in first with a time of 4:00.54.
Next week, Oxford travels to Ferndale High School (881 Pinecrest Dr., Ferndale) on September 14 at 6 p.m.
