Local business owner Ed Adler spotted something unique in the back of a local business, so The Clarkston News went to investigate.
It’s a vintage Beechcraft Model 18 plane was spotted near the back of the old Township Hall Building at 90 N. Main. Located on private property, home to the Union AdWorks, local restaurateur Curt Catallo said the Word War II era plane was purchased at an auction at a Michigan school for aviation and the plane engines were purchased out of Detroit.
‘I don’t know where it’s permanent home is going to be,? said Catallo. ‘Right now where it is a good spot for it because it reminds us that the 90 N. Main building was used to make cheap seat covers for a lot of jeeps during World War II.”
The site was once a factory used to make Ford Motor Co., upholstery, he said.
‘A lot of those seats in the jeeps came from Clarkston,? he said.
