Owners of You, Me and Bubble Tea Cathy Darling and Stacey Beane are looking to aid those in need. The two are collecting items to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, along with supplies for those affected by Hurricane Irma.
The business spent last week collecting donations for victims of Hurricane Harvey and will spend the remainder of this week continuing that effort for victims of Hurricane Irma in front of their shop, located at 40 N. Washington St., Suite 1 in Oxford.
You, Me and Bubble Tea will continue collecting supplies through Friday, September 15 at 11 p.m.
The collection was first organized by Beane in conjunction with the Oakland County effort to collect supplies for victims of Hurricane Harvey.
“There are just a lot of people that need help right now and there are so many things that just aren’t accessible because so much has been damaged. Our hope is to help those who have been affected in their efforts to clean everything up and have everyone who’s having a difficult time and make things a little bit easier for them,” said Beane.
An enclosed trailer has been parked and is being filled in front of the You, Me, and Bubble Tea shop during business hours.
The items collected last week were delivered to the Oakland County North Office building, located in Pontiac, and will be transported by Oakland County to Houston next week, where they will be delivered to a staging area designated by Texas emergency management officials.
Items collected this week are set to be delivered to Oakland County, which is expected to collect items for those affected by Hurricane Irma.
The trailer was donated to the cause by Oxford-based Personal Touch Moving Inc.
Donated supplies may include items for clean-up (buckets, gloves, duct tape, garbage bags, fans, and batteries); hygiene (toothbrushes/toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, disinfecting wipes, washcloths/towels, shampoo/conditioner); child care (diapers and diaper cream, baby wipes, bottles, pacifiers, small toys); and pets (pet food, pet supplies).
Miscellaneous items, such as new socks, undergarments and flip flops are also being collected. For more information, visit the You, Me, and Bubble Tea Facebook page at facebook.com/youmeandbubbletea.
