Fund-raising efforts for accident victims

Pages have been set up on the GoFundMe.com website to raise money to help pay funeral expenses for Larry Parraghi and Julie Wilde, the two 43-year-old Oxford residents killed in an Oct. 24 auto crash on Ray Rd. by the high school.

Parraghi’s page is entitled, “In Memory of Larry Parraghi” and it was set up by Cheryl Verbeke, a family friend. The goal is to raise $8,000.

“Larry was a fun-loving guy who had a generous heart and his absence leaves a huge void for those who knew him,” wrote Verbeke on the fund-raising page.

Parraghi had two kids attending Lakeville Elementary – Neo, a 5-year-old son in developmental kindergarten, and third-grader Jade, his girlfriend’s daughter. He leaves behind two other children, Mary-Jane and Layla.

“I was blessed to spend some of Larry’s last day with him while he was helping to tear down and put away the Lakeville Elementary haunted house,” Verbeke wrote. “He also volunteered his time to pick up and deliver food for our Blessings in a Backpack team.”

Blessings in a Backpack is a program that sends nonperishable food home with students who receive free or reduced-price school lunches.

Wilde’s page is entitled, “Remembering the Life of Julie Wilde” and it was set up by her oldest daughter, Kiersten, 20.

Wilde leaves behind two other children, Gavin, 14, a freshman at Oxford High, and Maya, 17, an OHS senior.

The fund-raising goal is $10,000. Kiersten wrote the money will be used “to provide her with the final good-bye she deserves.”

“She wanted everyone to celebrate her life in the end,” she wrote. “Now, please help us fulfill her final wishes.”
