Oxford boys JV golf blue places 2nd at tournament

On May 12, the Wildcats JV golf blue team finished in second with 381 points at an 18-hole tournament held at IMA Brookwood.

There were three individual medalist for Oxford.

Oxford’s lowest scorer, Coleton Campbell shot a season best 90.

Following Cambell was Adam Gillespie, who shot another season best 93.

The third lowest Oxford scorer, Ryan Cobb, shot a 94.

Mitchell Essenmacher, fourth lowest, shot a steady 104 that day.

Oxford’s fifth player, Hayden Durant shot a nice 99.

On May 10, the team took a 186-189 loss to Stoney Creek.

Oxford’s one and two players, Louis Krupa and Cobb shot a 42 and 47.

Third and fourth players, Campbell and Gillespie shot a 46 and 54.

Fifth and sixth players, Connor Smigelski and Essenmacker shot a 59 and 53.

In the May 8 Cardinal Classis tournament at Davidson Country Club, Oxford placed ninth overall with a 394 score.

Krupa, Oxford’s low-scorer and medal winner that day, shot a solid 92 with fantastic iron play and great scrambling ability.

Second was Gillespie with all season best 97, hitting his driver the best all season and good short game.

Third was Dean Petersen with a 102, who played a consistent front 9 with good overall shot.

Fourth was Cobb with a 103. Fifth was Jacob Sharpe with a 106.

On Wednesday, May 17, the team will face Lapeer at Lapeer High (933 S. Saginaw St., Lapeer) at 4 p.m.
