Dec 9: A 54-year-old man from Metamora called Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies at 10:44 a.m. to report damage that had allegedly been done to the rear of his pickup truck while it was parked at his home located in the 400 block of S. Glaspie St. The man said the truck had been parked from 7:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Deputies observed skid marks in the snow nearby, along with loose stones in the bed of the pickup truck. The rear window of the truck was observed by deputies to have been broken.

Dec 7: A 69-year-old man from Oxford called Oxford Village Police to report an incident of potential fraud. According to the man, he had received a phone call from a male caller who identified himself as “Special Agent Shawn Alex.” The caller had allegedly told the man that he had a “federal fugitive warrant” out for his arrest for “tax evasion” and that his “bank account had been seized.” The caller also allegedly told the man that he needed to “transfer his bank account over to the Internal Revenue Service” and that they would “keep what was due and mail back the rest in a U.S. treasury check.” The caller allegedly called back later and told the man that he needed to send an additional $6,000. When the man told the caller he did not have any more money, the suspect told him to “get a personal loan or he would arrest him.” It was this call that prompted the victim to alert police of the incident, as he had not received any of his money back. A report was filed.

Dec 6:

A 67-year-old Oxford resident called Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies to his home, located in the 200 block of Edith St., where he said several items had gone missing from his truck which had been parked in the driveway between November 28 at 10:30 a.m. and Dec. 5 at 11:35 a.m. According to the man, he had found several items missing from the vehicle including an engraved pocket knife, a garage door opener, a phone charger, keys, eyeglasses and a collection of CDs. A report was filed.

Dec 5: An employee of a business located in the 10 block of N. Washington Rd. told Oxford Village Police that someone had allegedly stolen the store’s tip jar around 8:25 p.m. According to the employee, a man had walked into the store and ordered some food. The man allegedly told the employee that he had left his wallet in the car, left the store, and then came back in and grabbed the jar as the employee had their back turned. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 18 to 25-years-old with a medium build. He was reported to be wearing a black jacket with a silver stripe and a white mask over his mouth.
