Swimmers, divers compete in county tournament

On Friday, Feb. 3 at Waterford Mott, junior Mitchell Mulligan tied for the Wildcats highest finish in school history with 306.80 points and a 7th place finish in the diving portion of the Oakland County tournament.

On Saturday, the swimmers who competed earned another two points to go with Mulligan’s 12 points for the team. Oxford finished in 23rd place out of about 35 teams.

In the 200 Medley Relay: Lucas Sereno, Michael Scepka, Garrett Warren, and Travis Butler finished 16th with a season-best time of 1:44.24.

In the 200 Individual Medley, Warren finished 29th with a season-best time of 2:06.01.

In the 50 Freestyle: Brandon Powers finished 31st with a personal-best time of 23.16, which moves him up to 6th on the All-Time Top Ten List. Butler took 39th with a time of 23.75.

In the 100 Butterfly, Warren took 22nd with a season-best time of 55.18.

In the 500 Freestyle, Powers came in 29th with a personal-best time of 5:04.68. He is still third on the All-Time Top Ten List.

In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Sereno, Carter Pollard, Powers, and Butler finished in 17th place with a season-best time of 1:34.36.

In the 100 Backstroke, Sereno took 39th with a time of 1:00.22.

In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Scepka, Pollard, Powers, and Warren came in 20th with a season-best time of 3:30.57.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, the team will compete in the final dual meet of the season at home against Rochester High School at 6 p.m.

Senior athletes and their parents will be honored after the diving portion of the meet, according to Head Coach Jackie Rank.
