A friendly rivalry

Over 400 spectators attended the first ever ‘War on the Floor? basketball game at Lake Orion High School on Jan. 13.
The game was a fundraiser for the LOHS Marching Band, which has been raising money all year to travel to Washington, D.C., where the band has been invited to march in the Memorial Day Parade.
The game featured something for everyone, with a penguin run for the youngsters, pizza shots for a chance to win Jet’s Pizza, a 50-50 raffle (in which Gasper Grimaldi donated his winnings back to the band boosters) and, of course, the game itself.
In the end, the Dragon Cup was awarded to the 20-member teachers squad, known as ‘The Old School.?
They dominated the 21-member student team called ‘The Rage? from start to finish, winning by more than 20 points.
The game, officiated by LOHS Principal Todd Dunckley, and associate principals Darin Abbasse and Chris Bell, raised $1,500 for the band’s trip.
