Anything blue will do in Oxford

Hot Blues and BBQ returned to Oxford Village over the weekend for two days of food, music and fun.
Unlike the previous four festivals, this year’s featured free admission to both Friday and Saturday’s events, something that was greatly appreciated by music lovers.
‘It was nice they did it for free this year,? said Oxford resident Tim Lyons, who’s attended the festival every year since its inception. ‘I think there has been a very good turnout because of that.?
Hot Blues and BBQ, which included 17 blues acts over two days this year, has developed quite a loyal following both in and out of Oxford.
John and George Grobbel are brothers from Detroit who have been making the 50-mile trek to Oxford every year.
What’s most appealing to them is the festival’s laid-back ambiance.
‘I like that it’s all local bands and that it’s a small venue,? said John Grobbel. ‘It’s just really unique.?
Crossroads Blues Band took first place in the 4th preliminary round of the Detroit Blues Challenge and will head to the finals in November.
