Armed robbery in downtown Leonard

Addison Township authorities are urging business owners in Oxford and Addison to be on the look out for a possible serial armed robber.
The male suspect robbed the Addison Foods store on 31 E. Elmwood Street in Leonard around 9:45 Monday morning with a silver semi-automatic handgun.
Sgt. Pete Burkett, Addison’s sheriff substation commander, said the man parked his vehicle behind the store in the alley and then walked to the front to enter.
Pointing the handgun at the clerk, he demanded her to ‘give me all the money or I’ll killyou,? according to Burkett.
‘She did the right thing by opening the drawers up,? he said.
More than $600 worth of cash was stolen from the drawer and a Lottery machine.
The man fled north on Rochester Rd. in his car, but a vehicle description was not determined.
There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery and the clerk wasn’t injured.
Burkett said the tall, white male was completely dressed in black, wore a black ski mask and gray gloves and is a suspect in five other robberies.
Two hours after the Addison robbery, an armed robbery occurred at a motel in Imlay City where the suspect matched the same description, according to Burkett.
Other armed robberies in Metamora, Fenton, Shelby Twp. and Utica over the past two weeks also had the same descriptions reported.
‘In all those robberies a silver handgun was also used,? Burkett said.
Burkett urges all businesses to be aware of any suspicious circumstances and to call the police right away.
But most importantly, if someone tries to rob you, give them the money.
‘Don’t try to play hero,? he said.
