Booters receive league honors

Even though the final outcome of the soccer season ended in heartbreaking fashion for the Boy’s Varsity team, they can still hold their heads high knowing six members of this years team received 2009 Flint Metro League All-League Honors.
Sophomore Marco Bonfiglio was the lone Wildcat to receive first team honors. He scored eight goals and had one assist in the nine FML games this season.
‘Marco led the team in scoring and was the only non senior selected from our team,? said Coach John Thaler. ‘He will be looked upon to generate as many, if not more goals next season.
Senior Matt Versteeg received second team honors, scoring one goal and adding three assists during FML play.
Honorable Mention went to seniors Travis Roth (two goals, five assists), Steven Ferguson (three goals and one assist), Corey Olson (one goal and one assist) and Mark Hurrish.
‘All five did an outstanding job, especially the seniors and captains. The Seniors knew it was their last (year) and gave all they had in every game and practice,? said Thaler.
