Bowlers make all-state

The Varsity Bowling team got a nice surprise when it was announced that four varsity bowlers made the all-state academic team.
Seniors Mike Magyar and Corey Young were selected for the boys while seniors Kelly Cartner and Sarah Decker were selected for the girls.
Cartner was also named to the all-state second team for her bowling efforts.
This was the first time Oxford bowlers have been named on both the academic all-state list and the all-state team.
‘I can’t tell you how much this means to our program and our kids,? said Head Coach JR Lafnear. ‘To be recgonized at the state level is truely an honor and these kids deserve it.?
Bowlers must be seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.55 and bowled at least 13 games during the season in order to qualify for the academic all state team.
A formula based on games bowled, average, high games and finishes in regional and state tournaments is used to determine all-state honors.
‘I hope that we can use these student athletes as examples to others coming up in our program,? said Lafnear.
