Addison Twp. has some expensive homes

Based on the latest data from the U.S. Cenus Bureau, Addison Township made the top 50 list of most expensive homes in Michigan. The Census released its estimates of median home values and median property tax bills last December 2019 as part of its five-year estimates for 2014-18.
According to the data, Addison Township ranked 37th in the state, with the median property value bing $315,000. The most expensive properties are in Lake Angelous, with a median value of $1,230,800.
Locally, according to the data, the median value in Oxford Township was $232,100; Orion Township, $253,200; Brandon Township, $217,100, and; Independence Township, $252,300.

 

Oxford Township allocates CDBG funds

Last Wednesday night , Feb. 12, at its regular board meeting, Oxford Township trustees voted 7-0 to award $9,175 in federal CDBG funds to Oxford-Orion FISH to provide emergency services. Since 1973, FISH has been providing free groceries to families, individuals and senior citizens. Last year, FISH gave away 203,862 pounds of food.

 

Friends of the Library auctioning gift baskets

The Friends of the Oxford Public Library are running a silent auction of 24 gift baskets from local businesses like Funky Monkey Toys and Boulder Pointe Golf Club. Hurry, the auction ends Friday. The baskets can be found surrounding the fish aquarium in the library entrance. Proceeds go to supporting the Friends of the OPL, which in turn supports the library.
Last year, this fundraiser raised almost as much as the group’s book sales. In 2019, the Friends donated $6,000 to the library. They ended the year with a balanced budget of $10,669, and are waiting for the library director, Bryan Cloutier, to give them a wish list for this year’s donation.
