The Oxford varsity baseball team has definitely gotten off to a great start after winning their season opener on Thursday against Rochester Adams 9-6.
Bobby Rhodes hit three runs and a three-run homer, while Vinnie Ives added a solo home run.
Brandon Dugan added two hits, Russell Luxton had three hits and three RBIs. Tim Shafto got the win on the mound and Jeremy Bukoski got the save.
The boys continued their winning streak at Saturday’s double header against Richmond with both games ending 8-0.
In game one, Jeremy Bukoski threw a complete game two hitter with 9 K’s for the win. Vinnie Ives went 4-4 while Brandon Dugan and James McLean added three hits each.
In game two, Russell Luxton and Kyle Teague combined for the shut-out against Richmond.
Monday’s double-header against Flint Kearsley was close, but ended with a 4-0 win in the first game and 9-8 win in the second. In game one, Jeremy Bukoski had three doubles, while Vinnie Ives, Brad Dugan, James McLean and Russell Luxton each added two hits.
In game two, Kyle Teague earned the save on the mound with a perfect 7th inning. VinnieIives had a double and a triple, while James McLean and Russell Luxton each added two hits.
The team takes on Davison this afternoon.
