Cats sack Troy 42-7

TROY ? It started with the opening kickoff when Glacier Wallington ran 84 yards for a touchdown.
The Glacier Wallington Show then continued for most of the game as the senior signal caller racked up three touchdowns running and one passing at the Oxford Wildcats crushed Troy, 42-7.
Following his 84-yard run, Wallington had a 19-yard run in the second quarter to give the Wildcats a 14-0 halftime lead.
Wallington then scored his third TD on a one-yard run early in the third quarter.
For his next trick, Wallington hit Adam Schlicht on a 10-yard TD pass to give Oxford a 35-0 lead midway through the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, running back Jordan Henry scored on a 55-yard run before Troy got its only TD of the game.
Henry then capped the scoring with 2:26 remaining. Noah Grove kicked the last of his six conversions to give the Wildcats a 42-7 win.
Henry finished with 136 yards rushing while Oxford amassed 424 yards in offense, including 346 on the ground. Wallington was 8 for 13 passing for 66 yards. Anson Rowley contributed 108 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Wallington had 92 yards rushing, which does not include the 84 on his kickoff return.
Coach Bud Rowley’s team played solid defense led by linebacker John Patrick, who recorded six tackles.
This week the Wildcats will host West Bloomfield at 7 p.m.. Oxford and West Bloomfield are in a second-place tie in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division with 4-1 league records and 5-1 overall marks.
A win by Oxford will keep the Wildcats in the hunt behind first-place Clarkston for the league title. Also important for the Wildcats is that the team’s sixth win gives Rowley’s squad a guaranteed berth in the state playoffs.
West Bloomfield will bring a high-powered offense to Wildcat Stadium and will be a challenge for Oxford’s defense.
If Oxford’s offense can sustain some long drives and keep West Bloomfield’s offense stagnant, then it can get that sixth win.
