Congratulations Oxford Beautification Award winners!

Six residences and three commercial/government properties were honored Tuesday night at the 13th annual Village of Oxford Beautification Awards Program.
The properties are judged by the five-member Beautification Commission based on things like creativity (color and design), landscaping, maintenance/upkeep, overall impression and signage (commercial properties).
Established in 1992 through a village ordinance, the commission’s ultimate goal is ‘to make this one of the most beautiful villages in the State of Michigan and/or the USA,? according to Chairman Joe Bullen.
‘We are commission that really has no authority,? Bullen noted. ‘We like to say that we are just encouragers.?
So far, it appears the commission’s ‘neighbor-to-neighbor? style of encouragement is working.
Driving around the village every year, Bullen said, ‘I’m just amazed at how it’s improved.?
‘I like to think that we have helped to do that.?
