Congressional Medal of Merit awarded to Grunewald

Congratulations to Oxford High School senior Brad Grunewald who was awarded with the Congressional Medal of Merit May 12.
Michigan State Representative Mike Rogers awarded 30 students from District #8 at the state capitol in Lansing.
Grunewald was selected by OHS administrators and counselors for his outstanding leadership in the community and in school.
Grunewald serves as the senior class president, is a member of the varsity track and football teams and helps with youth football camps and middle school track events.
In the community, Grunewald and his DECA team placed 5th internationally last month for their ‘Click it for Jill? seat belt safety campaign. He is also an usher at Holly Cross Lutheran Church.
‘I just try to do as many things as possible,? he said.
Joined by his parents, grandparents and sister Grunewald received his medal, then toured the state House of Representatives and Senate for his first visit to the capitol.
‘It was really cool,? he said.
Even though he won this prestigous award, Grunewald is very humble and said his involvement in the school came naturally.
‘I just do it because I enjoy being involved with school and my peers,? he said. ‘Just to be recognized and awarded for it was a really neat experience.?
