Cynthia (Shagena) Brooks

With broken hearts and many tears we announce that our beloved Cynthia Lea (Shagena) Brooks passed away unexpectedly at home Saturday, September 24, 2016. She was 44.

Shagena Cyndi mugCyndi was the loving wife of Ray Brooks; devoted mother of John Shagena and Johanna Brooks; proud grandmother of Madison, John Jr., Ray Lynn and Nevaeh; beloved daughter of Vivian and Glen Binkley; stepdaughter to Jim Burgess Sr.; sister to Rob Shagena, Rich Shagena Sr., Jim (Chrystal) Burgess II, Laura (Chris) Bell; sister-in-law to Mary (Mike) Hosler, Jerry Brooks, Virgil (Rochelle) Brooks, Curtis Brooks (Wolf), Dennis Brooks (Dog), Michele (Sonny) Miller, Randy (Brenna) Kasper, Jim (Renee) Wood, Tammy Brooks and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that she loved so dearly. Cindy was preceded in death by her father Richard R. Shagena; mother-in-law Ellen Quick and father-in-law Phil Brooks.

Cyndi left this world just like she came into it – when she decided it was time she unexpectedly arrived at 12:55 a.m. on October 9, 1971, in an ambulance at the corner of Scripps Rd. and M-24. Her delivery doctor was Officer James Leach from the Lake Orion Police Department. When she left us, it was just as unexpected.

Cyndi always liked being with her G.G. Annie when things weren’t right and the date Cyndi left us was the same date that her G.G. left us 14 years ago. Her G.G. came and took her home with her.

Cyndi was loved by many, young and old, and even though our hearts are breaking we know that she will never be forgotten and she will live on in the hearts and memories of everyone that knew her. Your last few years you have faced a lot of demons and pain but now you can fly home sweet angel where you will never suffer again! We love you.

Funeral services were held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford on Oct. 1. Interment was at North Oxford Cemetery.
