Deputies earn honors

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard recognized seven individuals from the Addison and Oxford substations May 15 at their annual awards program in Pontiac.
Deputies Howard ‘Chip? Schultz, Bruce Pearson and Holly Hadac, and Sgt. Pete Burkett, commander of the Addison substation, were awarded with Commendation Certificates for their work on a home invasion last year.
The home invasion occurred last year on Dorn Rd. when an 18-year-old Washington resident tied up two house cleaners at knife-point, ransacked the home and fled.
‘What made that award-worthy is the fact that we went on almost zero clues,? Burkett said.
Working with Macomb County, the Addison deputies and sergeant apprehended the suspect and ‘wrapped up the case? within three hours of the incident.
Addison deputy Matt Liss was awarded with the Sheriff’s Distinguished Service Award for his quick actions during a multiple township car chase last summer. Liss deployed stop-sticks to halt the suspect after he had already rammed a civilian vehicle and Atlas Township patrol car. ‘It’s a great honor to be recognized in the law enforcement field,? Burkett said.
From the Oxford substation, deputies John Dobrowiak and Jason Louwaert both received the Sheriff’s Distinguished Service Award for their actions in chases involving stolen vehicles last year. ‘I appreciate their fine work and effort,? said Lt. Tom Parker of the Oxford substation. ‘It’s just symbolic of all the people here and the fine job that they do.?
