Electric cars: past, present, future is topic of virtual presentation

Did you know at one time electric vehicles outsold their gasoline counterparts or why were they eventually overcome by internal combustion engines? Next Wednesday (March 10) Russell Dore will present a virtual program on electric cars to answer those questions and more.
Dore is a Board member of the Motor Cities National Heritage Area, a member of the Northville Historical Society and a member of the Henry Ford Heritage Association.
He will discuss Henry Ford and Thomas Edison’s efforts to develop the electric car and the influences of the Detroit Electric Company in its early successes. He will also delve into automotive manufacturers’ plans for the growth of electric vehicles and how the greater Detroit area is contributing heavily to this growth. Dore will also discuss self-driving electric vehicles, and how they are becoming a reality.
The program is hosted by the Oxford Public Library and starts at 7 p.m. This program will be available on Zoom, and registration is required. A reminder e-mail with the Meeting I.D. and Pass Code will be sent to registered participants before the program begins.
