Grapplers can’t pin down Wovles

The Clarkston Wolves have proved to be a thorn in the Lake Orion varsity wrestling team’s side as the team beat the Dragons on Jan. 29, and again in the OAA I Tournament on Feb. 7.
At Clarkston on Jan. 29, the Wolves beat Lake Orion 57-10. The Dragons were able to win only two matches against the Wolves, with Adam Kennard taking the 119-pound match against Eric Perysian, and Jesse Smith taking the 145-pound match against Rob Prince.
On Feb. 7 at Lake Orion High School, the Dragons took fourth in the OAA I Tournament, with a score of 98. Clarkston won the league meet with 194.5 points. West Bloomfield was second (125.5), Troy was third (107.5), Rochester was fifth (97), Auburn Hills Avondale was sixth (72), and Rochester Adams was seventh (69).
Smith was the winner again for Lake Orion at 145, taking down Clarkston’s John Langdon by a score of 9-4.
Lake Orion’s Rocky Rocheleau defeated Pat Scanlon by 2-1 to win the 171-pound match.
Lake Orion travels to team districts today. The MHSAA Individual Tournament is on Saturday, with team regionals scheduled for Feb. 19.
Individual regionals will be on Feb. 22, with team finals on March 1. Individual finals are scheduled for the Palace of Auburn Hills on March 6-7.
